SANTA ANITA STAKES FILL WELL. I Los Angeles. Cal.. November 10. The Santa Anita gtake entries which closed at twelve tonight show a larger list than that of last iyear. The chief nominator is Phil Chinn with 72 entries: then comes R. F. Carman with 40 and J. J. Walsh with 17. All the events have been well patronized. A field of at least ten is expected to face the harrier in the Pomona Handicap Thanksgiving Day. which is the big opening race. Many of the 700 horses now at the track are well advanced, probably owing to the splendid condition of the course in the last ten days. It is as good, safe and fast now as it will be at any time during the racing season, The latest arrivals are Henderson and Hogan. W. S. j 1 Williams, W. V. Conran, J. A. Bennet and Ed Al- vey. Archie Zimmer and a number of other easterners now racing at Latonia are expected to ship here from there at the end of this week. Barney Schreiber. who was to arrive here last might, "telegraphed manager Gardner from Bar-5tow that he would continue on to San Francisco, fihis sudden change of plans has probably been precipitated by the fact that C.v Myrlck. a big local poolroom operator, is now in San Francisco awaiting the arrival of George Rose. Owing to some misunderstanding between Myrick and the management, iMie former threatens, it is reported, to keep his ipoolroom open all winter. The trouble centers around the dollar books at the track, in which My-a-lck was largely interested last year. It Is reasonably expected that when Rose, Schrei-,ber and Myrlck meet in San Francisco the threatened trouble will be amicably settled.
