FINAL KENTUCKY DERBY TRIALS. Wintergreen Does the Fastest Work and His Owner Says He Is the Winner. Louisville. Ky., April 29.— It seems after todays trials of several of the Derby horses that J. B. Respess. with his colt. Wintergrecn. is close to the coveted prize. Over a course about three-fifths of a second slow. Respess colt worked the route in 2:0hB. Some contended that Wlntergreen was all out, but Respess laughed and said: "The winner of the Kentucky Derbv belongs to «ne." Wiratergreen cooled out well. He not onlv looks fit but he is fit. This was the final test for the Respess candidate. McGee will ride Wlntergreen. Direct and Warfield were as straight as a string, it is said, after their trial. Respess. who has bet with. Young that Wlntergreen will defeat Direct, now says that the Young entrv will be busy getting inside the money. Friend Harrv. after his trip from the coast, is looking better and his work today was •satisfactory to his owner. Edward Alvev. who contends that he has the winner.
