SOME SPIRITED RACING AT HOUSTON. Houston. Tex.. May 7. — Todays card was run oyer a heavy track, a cloudburst late yesterday even ing making the going deep iu mud. Notwithstanding; the bad condition of the track only seven horses In the six races declined the issue and a good day-sport resulted. Barmy Schn ibcrs Balolee was the choice in the opening race, and never left the result in doubt, winning all the way and pulling up at the finish. Ban Lord, after making the early running, tired badly after entering the stretch and readily succumbed to Miss May Bowdish. which ran in im proved form. The most interestiiK. race of the afternoon was- the third ami tin- proverbial blanket would have covered tl* first four horses at the iin ish Kugraver. the longest priced winner of the afternoon, won the fourth, while Sabado defeated the heavily backed favorite. Ivanigan. in the fifth. Little Osages victory in the sixth race was the surprise of the day. as it seemed like a two-horse race between Cooni-y K. and Horace II. Barney Schreilier yesterday sold his apod three year-old filly. Karennina. to Steve I.Houim-dieu at private sale. LHoinniedieii intends taking her to Denver for the summer meeting to be giveu there by John Condon.
