FAVORITES PREVAIL AT HOUSTON. Houston. lex.. May V. — Although the afternoons lard was made up of six selling races, the results were moie than satisfactory to the public as four of the six favorites were successful and the ten books received a good drubbing. Helen Kidders victory in the fifth race was the surprise of the afternoon, M. J. Prawns till v being a rank outsider in the betting, as good as 12 to 1 being laid against her. Jockeys Ilollister and Coburn shared the riding honors of the dav. each having two winners to his credit. The stable of J. W. Fuller got in Ibis morning from Fort Worth. Included in the string is liist Premium and the speedy Toy Boy. The dales are opt for the Beaumont spring meeting of the Beaumont Jockey club, which opens May SB for a two weeks meeting, with tin- chance of an extension of one week, which will bring the meeting up to the dosing down of all racing in the state of Texas.
