praises regarding the condition of the main and training courses this spring The galloping ground at Queens broke up excellently Superin ¬ tendent William A Gorman is of course responsible for the satisfactory condition of the tracks which are perfect for training or racing The firm bottom has a light but safe cushion which enables trainers to give their horses any sort of a preparation with absolute safety At this season more thau any other time superintendents are put on their mettle to re ¬ pair the damage done during the winter hy storms to the tracks in their charge As a rule the nwnths of February and March play havoc with training grounds leaving them had in spots Many a high class horse has been ruined when working by step ¬ ping on a part of the track where the bottom was faulty or the cushion uneven Nothing Is more satisfactory to horsemen than training over a course where the going is uniform It is for these and other reasons tliat turfmen appreciate the prevailing situation at the WcstChestcr Racing Associations mammoth plant plantYesterday Yesterday several trainers gave their horses a little work among them Thomas J Healey trainer for Richard T Wilson Jr
