CATEEING TO THE STEEPLECHASEES New York March 25 Turfmen interested in crosscountry racing are being well looked after from every viewpoint at Belmont Park All the fences on the main and schooling courses have been Over ¬ hauled recently and Superintendent William A Gor ¬ man has just completed a corral in the infield of the mile training track The corral meets with the ap ¬ proval of many horsemen who race through the field inasmuch as it will play an important part in the early education of horses intended for steeplcchasing and hurdle racing racingTwo Two hurdles have been erected in the center of the enclosure and these may be raised or lowered at will The late Francis D Beard who raced the Suburban winner Lazzarone Jefferson and other good horses under the name of the Erie Stable was a strong believer In the use of a corral for the dcvel opment of young jumpers Mr Beard had built for his private use one of these enclosures adjoining his barn on the Brighton Beach course
