CONDENSED HISTORY OF THE CORONATION STAKES 4 i + As is entirely right, the Canadian racing organizations reserve a portion of their stake races for horses bred in Canada. Of this description is the Coronation Stakes, for two-year-olds. It was tirst run in 1902. when it fell to William Ilendries Ayrshire Lad. Since then the event has been practically monopolized bv ilolĀ»ert Oavies and J. E. Seagram, eacn winning it three times. The only break in their alternating successes was in 1907. when J. W. Groves won with Andrew Summers. No horse of great subsequent faine has won the event and its record is as follows: Year. First. Jockeys. Wt. Second. Wt. Third. Wt. Val. Time. 1902 Avi shire Lad T.
