NOTES OF THE TURF. Carcere Duro, owned by W. K. Vanderbilt. won the Prix Blink Bonny, at Tivmblay, France, Saturday. Among the early arrivals at Butte was R. B. Allen, who recently shipped a number of youngsters from his Nebraska farm to add to the string he raced at Oakland. Colonial Girl, winner of the Worlds Fair Handicap at St. Louis, and in foal to Yankee, has been shipped from Kentucky to Joseph E. Wideners establishment at Elkt.m, Pa. William Walker offered John E. Madden ,000 for Beatrice several days ago. The Keutucky turfman refused to sell the brown daughter of Migraine and Lady Schorr for the figure named. Charles W. Moore, of Mere 1 1 11 1 Stud, has purchased the weanling bay colt by McGee, out of California dam of Hadur, Anne McGee, Calypte, etc., by Midlothian, from Oeorge J. Stoll. Thomas Hitchcock, Jr., will race a big string of two-year-olds, mostly the get of Mexican, at Saratoga. Frank Keogh has been engaged by Mr. Hitchcock to ride his horses during the meeting at the Springs. The horses on the New York tracks are enjoying exceptional health. There has not been au acute case of sickness, according to the veterinarian, since the horses iu the Keene string recovered from various ailments. John Miller has arrived at Sheepshcad Bay from Li.xiiigtoti with twelve yearlings, the property of 11. K. Kuapp, Francis T. Hitchcock and VVilliatn L. Powers. Tile Knapp and Hitchcock juveniles will be broken and trained by William II. Karrick at the Bay. Trainer Charlie Casey, who developed and successfully trained the French mare Ciuette. besides many other good performers on eastern and western tracks, has gone east for the Saratoga meeting. He handled a division of Barney Schreibers stable at Oakland last winter. Thomas Newton, owner of Busy Miss, who claimed Joseph A. Jones Hectaspu at sohkeea Saturday for 1000, refused ,501 for the colt a few moments after the youngster became his property. Hectagon had Worked well In heavy going, and is expected to show his best performances over deep tracks. Mr. Newton, who is a resident of Greenwich, Conn., takes a decided interest iu racing.
