RACING GOSSIP FROM KENTUCKY. Louisville. Ky., August 2. — Trainer T. P. Hayes will break his yearlings again this season at Douglas Park, and-the youngsters will be shipped here as soon as the Scott County turfman returns from his Canadian racing campaign, which will be after the second Windsor meeting ends. Mr. Haves has some promising youngsters. He is proud of three weanlings he raised this year from his mares Algie M., Lady Strathmore and Miss Mae Day. The Algie M. foal is a hay colt by McGee. while the other two are by Peep o Bay. Roth are lilies. The better looking of the two may be shown in the thoroughbred weanling ring at the Blue Grass Fair. When things looked so dark in a racing wav a few years ago Mr. Hayes had in mind the selling of Ladv Btrathmore and Miss Mae Hay. bnt though he priced them low for two such mares, no one came along v.ith enough money to bay the pair. Now the owner of Oracle is pleased that they did not sell, as he regard! either one of the fillies he now owns as more than worth what he asked for both mares. Racing Commissioner George J. Long, the wealthiest of all Louisville turfmen., has four weanling allies this season at Rashford Manor Farm by Sempronius. One of the aaaiber is out of Ignito. the dam of Sir Huon. which noted mare is now twenty-one years of age. Col. Matt J. Winn, manager of the New Louisville Jockey Club, and Secretary Lyman II. Davis are expected home from New York In-fore the end of tie- present week, and it will not be long titter their t rrival before something definite will be known in regard to the fall meeting at Churchill Downs, as Presldeat Charles F. Grainger Is already in the city.
