BALLOT MEETS WITH MISHAP. New York. August 0. — James R. Keenes Ballot, winner of the Suburban of l.tOK, and one of the best horses that has borhe the colors of James R. Keene in many a year, is on the shelf for this season at least. Ballot came out of the Saratoga Handicap, in which he was beaten by Olambala last Thursday, with an abrasion on his near foreleg. He did not appear to be sore when he went to his stable, but tiie injured leg was badly swollen Friday and his trainer lias not been able to get him on the track since. It is accordingly announced that there i» 110 likelihood of an attempt to race him again this month. Whether Ballot will come to the Hist again uext .season his trainer cannot say. He does not know yet exactly what ails the stout chestnut. He may have a bowed tendon, or his injury may be due to a kick. Since Ballot is now six years old. it is possible that Mr. Keene may decide to retire him Immediately to Castletoa Stud.
