BASHTI PREPARING FOR THE MATRON. New York. September 8. — Thomas Welsh has received no word from Harry Payne Whitney as to when he wants Bashti shipped to Great Britain to b.irin work for, the Epsom Oaks of 101 1 and he will go ahead and get her ready for the filly end of the Matron Stakes to be run this fall at Pimlico. It is assumed that Mr. Whitney will want Bashti to fill her ingageinent at Pimlico. The filly end of the Matron will pay I he winner about 87.300. Bashti has nothing to run for in England this fall and frying for such a prize is nreH worth while. If Bashti waits in this country for the filly end of the Matron, it is possible that Mr. Welsh may undertake the job of getting her to England. His stable was greatly reduced by the Newcastle mle at Saratoga . and it is his intention to take a trip abroad this fall. Mr. Welsh took Adam, the sire of Biishti. with a bunch of the Millstream Stud mares to France two years ago. and sold them, and he liked what he saw abroad. But be had a big stable at Grave-end and he had to hurry home sooner than be liked. If he goes across the Atlantic after the Pimlico meeting he will take a longer vacation. Bashti is not the only ttlly Mr. Welsh will prepare for the Matron. Ogden Bishops Handspring filly. Zillah. and the Woodnnren Stables Five Aces are iu his barn, and he will get them ready.
