+ + AMERICAN NOMINATIONS FOR ENGLISH CLASSICS OF 1912 JL. *C "I" Complete entry lists to the Derby. Oaks and St. Leger of 1II12 have been published in Knglaud recently. Incomplete Derby and Oaks lists were made public some time back. Of Immediate interest here are the contributions from the Initeil States. The American nominations are numerous and representative of our best lines of breeding. American-bred ■ ntries number 51 to the Kpsom Derby. 20 to the Epsom Oaks and 22 to the Dolicaster St. Leger. It. T. Wilson. Jr.. has the greatest number in the Derby. 12. and H. I. Whitney is second to him with lo. Mr. Wilsons entries are of yearlinirs nominated to the Derby by John E. Madden and afterwards sold to their present owner with their engagements. None of them is in the St. Leger. EL I. Whitney has ten in the Derby, seven in the Oaks and rive in the St. Leger. The majority of his nominations are by Hamburg, but he has scions of Adam. Burgomaster and Golden Garter engaged also. James R. Keene has three colts in the Derby and three tillies in the Oaks. August Belmont has lour in the Derby, live in the St. I-eger and three in the Oaks. All but one are by Rock S.ind. the exception being a colt by Kthelbert — Crossways named Curieux. He also has the English-bred colt. Ferole. by Ornie — Ferment, iu the Derby and St. Leger. Louis Winans has his brother to Sir Martin in the Derby and St. Leger and has named him Sir Colin. II. it. Dm ye. J has three Derby nominations and two each to the St. Leger and Oaks. John E. Madden has retained three Derby nominations and one to the Oaks. F. R. Hitchcock has a colt in the Derby and two fillies in the Oaks. Ogden M. Bishop has two colts by Adam in the Derby that were bred in this country-, but foaled in France. H. C. Drown and Tom Welsh have well-bred nominations. Some of the foreign owners of American-breds may chance to possess racing jewels. James A. de Rothschild, for instance, has a half-brother to the famous Waterboy in his chestnut edit, Praecursor. by Adam — Eealandia. If he should turn out to be as good as Waterboy was any conceivable turf honors may await him. T. Darings colt. If t mplnil. is by Broomstick, from the fast mare. Flocarline. which raced well over Chicago tracks in her days of activity on the track. Captain Northey Hopkins colt, by Adam — Mareehal Neil, is a close relative of the Derby winner.
