GOSSIP OF THE EASTERN TURF. New York. September IS, Six yearlings, the prop ei-i. of Angus! Belmont, are due n Oravewntl from the Nursery Stud in Kentucky. Trainer Thomas Welsh, who has handled a division oi Mr. Belmonts raring string for the oast few seasons, will break and try these juveniles. They are destined for Facing in this country and will be wintered at the Gravenend course of the Brooklyn Jockey club. Thomas McCreery, who successfully trained Aeronaut, Entree, Lady Winifred and other horses for Frederick Johnson and V. Ambrose Clark, has had an offer to train a stable of goodly proportions for a western owner on the Paciiic coast tliis winter. Jerome Welsh, one of starter Mars Cassidys assistants, will shortly leave for a trip to England and Ireland. Some years ago Jerry was an accomplished cross-country rider on the Irish courses. Thomas Hitchcock. Jr.. will send the two-year-olds. Bouncer and Savannah, together with seven. 1 other horses, to France late in the fall. They will be schooled over the jumps at Mr. Hitchcocks West-bury establishment on Long Island tirst.
