Kl Iaso, Tex., February 9.- Disagreeable weather conditions that prevailed today somewhat affected the attendanec at Tcrrazas Park. . despite the fact that one of tlie most brilliant cards of the meeting was offered. The feature of the day was the Yucatan Stakes, for two-year-olds, at half a mile. It be-in;? the first time this year that the youngsters have been asked to go that far. The held parading to the post was the best seen here this season. In addition to the American record holder, Callgse. there was also the California crack. Anion, recently purchased by Kd Gaylord of Denver from A. 15. Sprockets, llis chances were none too well fancied by the local race-goers and he went to tin; post a mild third choice, although heavily backed by his stable connections. His success came as a surprise to the talent. After rating behind the pace until well out of the chute he went to the front and won in a canter in the fast time of 4Cg- seconds, reducing the former track record by three-fifths of a second and equaling the American record for the distance made by Donau at Santa Anita in 1009. The outcome of the race was highly gratifying to his owner, as it was the first success for the stable of horses recently purchased by him. The success of two favorites and a well-backed second choice just about enabled the talent to break even on the day. Jockey G. Garner carried off the riding honors with two firsts to his credit, at lucrative olds iu ths betting. Tommy Twig, from the stable of J. T. Ireland, was the medium of a heavy plunge in the lirst race, being backed here as well as elsewhere.
