JACKSONVILLE JUDGES TAKE ACTION. Refuse Further Entry of Hoffman and Stoneman Following Results of Yesterday. Jacksonville. Fla.. February 9. Results exceeded expectations at Moncrief Park this afternoon. An ordinary card was offered, in which mediocre horses went to the post, but the fields were well matched and most of the winners were under hard drives to score. In three of them heads separated tjio first two. The victories of Hoffman, and .Stoneman, both of which made runaway affairs of their races, resulted iu their entries being refused for the remainder of the meeting. Stoneman was a receding outsider, while Hoffman was favorite in his race. Hoffmans race may have represented an improvement over his previous effort, but it was by no means a glaring reversal. Four favorites won, the successful choices being Basil. Hoffman, Frank Navlu and Casque. The two-year-old race went to Naughty Rose from the China stable. She outpaced her company sAl the way and beat Sauce a length. The Beverwyck Stables Frank Navln graduated from the ranks of the non-winners when he. beat a band of thirteen maidens in the second race. He had to be hard ridden through the -homestretch to win by a head from J. B. Robinson. The race was a selling affair and S. A. Clopton lwosted the winner 00 over his entered price of 00. but Dave Woodford protected the eqlt. aud bought him in for F. J. Nolan. Tlie following race went to S. A. Cloptons Rash, and it. too. was a selling event. Booth Thompson, who lost Aspirin by the selling race process to It. D. Williams a few days ago, but afteiward repurchased the horse, advanced Rash from ,000 to ,500 and secured him at that figure. There was much rough rising In the fifth race, and in the stretch All Red was all but knocked down. At the furlong post Royal Onyx lioltcd, across, the track and struck All Red. and McCahey had to pull up. Joe Gaitcns, which finished fourth, was stripped on his way back to the paddock and Fain, who rode Royal Onyx, was called into the stand. It looked likely that a disqualification: would be made, but the official sign was ordered lowered by the judges and the matter ended there.. Tlie flags at the track were at half mast this afternoon out of respect to the memory of jockey A. Lang, who was killed yesterday .- Jockey Hopkins was suspended for a week by the stewards for rough riding on County "Tax in the fourth race. A. B.
