R. F. CARMAN REACHES LEXINGTON. Lexington, Ky., April 21. Richard F. Carman, accompanied by jockey G. Archibald, arrived from New York this morning. A stable of eighteen stalls hail been reserved for him at the Kentucky Association track. It suited him. with the exception that it is not large enough to accommodate his string of horses due here from Belmont Park Sunday night. If suitable quarters cannot be obtained for fifteen horses outside of the track enclosure Mr. Carman will have a number shipped on to Louisville and keep here the eighteen that are ready to race. He says Ids horses wintered splendidly and that they have all been doing well at Belmont Park. He is satisfied that Meridian is a colt of Derby caliber and wrll -send him out for the big prize at Churchill Downs. He will have a race or two at the local meeting in preparation for the Derby. There was another heavy rain this morning and no horses were worked on I he main track. There was nothing sensational in the gallops in the sand. Max Hirsch will ship War Jig and two others here from Louisville next week. The good two-year-old Oalisse is on her way here from Texas in charge of trainer Poe. J. R. Rcspess was here from Louisville today to inspect Ills stallions Dick Welles and Marathon and a nundier of broodmares and foals at the farms of Thomas Piatt and John I. Carr.
