HORSES LEAVING LONG ISLAND TRACKS. Carman Stable to Be Shipped From Belmont Park to Kentucky Today and Others Will Follow. New York, April 21. Richard F. Carmans string of thirty-three horses will be shipped from Belmont Park to Lexington, Ky.. tomorrow. This is one of the biggest shipments of horses ready to race ever sent from New York to a western track. Mr. Carmans horses raced witli distinction last year, ami the Kentuekians will no doubt entertain a high respect for a Carman entry. The stable will undoubtedly have a strong following at the Lexington, Louisville and Latonia meetings. The Carman horses were liberally entered iu the Kentucky stake events, and the older horses on past performances appear to have an excellent chance of holding their own. Eleven two-year-olds, fashionably bred colts and fillies, are included in the collection. Sherlock Holmes. Doctor Watson and Inspector Lestrade are eligible to the Raceland Stakes, while California Queen and Lady Sapphire are named iu the Elmeu-dorf, a four and a half furlongs dash for fillies. Meridian, the three-year-old bay .eon of Broomstick Sue Smith, is eligible to the Blue Grass Stakes, to be run May 10. The distance is one mile and an eighth. Bonnie Kelso, Starbottlp, Rogon. Horizon. Stare, Magazine, The Turk, Question .Mark. Arcite. M. Cainbon. Merry Lad. Cainpeon aud Sir Cleges are many time winners in the string. George Archibald, who is engaged to ride the Carman horses, arrived from the Pacific coast several weeks back. The young man is not only one of the most finished riders in this country, but his habits are exemplary. Archibald is at the barn every morning and has mounts In the several sets. Paradise Queen, a brown mare by Waterlioy Rose Carlo, and the chestnut mare Achieve, by Watercress Stellaris. will be shipped to Kentucky to be mated with William OB. Macdonoughs Ormondale. Silas Veitch, who has been training ten crosscountry horses at Belmont Park, shipped a half-dozen of the lot to Plnilico today. The horses handled by Mr. Veitch will race under different owners silks and arc as follows: Mrs. Payne Whitneys bay gelding Web Carter. Ed L. Smith and II. W. Sages Baron Dieskau and Bishop, F. Ambrose Clarks Hylda and Balitrea, Harry S. Pages Gold Plate. Henry W. Bulls Magnolia and Harry K. Vinguts Waterspecd. Grandpa. Inniskillen and Black Bridge, the latter already being at Norfolk, are the property of Mr- Veitch. Otto Holder, who rode many a winner over the sticks, will pilot some of the Veitch charges at the meeting of the Maryland Jockey Club.
