PIMLICO PROSPECTS GOOD EXCELLENT SPORT IN STORE FOR PATRONS OF MARYLAND TRACK. Pick of Eastern Horses Quartered at Baltimore Course in Readiness for Todays Opening The Track Itself in Fine Condition. Baltimore, Md., April 2S. Excellent sport is iu store for race goers at Pimlico this spring. The best horses in the east are here to participate in the racing this year, and gathered on this famous old racing ground are the pick of the thoroughbreds in the countrj. All of the important eastern owners have minted some of their horses to go to the post on the opening day. The Maryland Jckey Club has piovided a program of seven races for the occasion, two of them being for two-year-olds. Superintendent Brennau has the track in splendid condition and sensational time probably will lie recorded during the meeting, provided conditions remain as thej are todaj. All of the private boxes in the stand and clubhouse enclosures have been engaged and the best element in this section will turn out to extend a helping -hand to the thoroughbred. Many prominent men interested in racing are al-readj here. Thomas Clyde is a daily attendant at the course in the morning to watch Capt. Fred Presgravo prepare his jouug horses for their seasons campaign. All of Mr. Clj-des horses are in forward condition. The good four-jear-old Dalhousie is not here. He was loft at the farm and will not be taken up until fall, if then. W. P. Burch arrived from Washington this morning with the horses of Samuel Ross and also a couple-owned by Thomas Hitchcock. The latter is here and the horses that W. H. Karrick is training for him are being worked under his supervision. Mr. Hitch-, crock is very enthusiastic over a couple of his two-year-olds which promise to develop into good racers. Sprite, which is carded to start tomorrow, is one of his favorites. W. II. Snyder, who is looking after the two-year-olds in S. C. Hildreths stable, Is on the track every morning astride a black ponv. There arc some good looking jonngsters iu hisdtarge. The horses will be called to the post for the first race at three oclock. Some of the best work-outs this morning were: Cliff Edge Half milo in 47g. Everett Three-quarters iu .1:15. Hampton Court Mile In 1:43. King James Five-eighths in 1:03. Martin Doyle Mile in 1:42. Pluvious Five-eighths in 1:04. Rose Queen Half mile in 47?. Shannon Five-eighths in 1:02. Sir Raymond Three-quarters in 1:17. St. Regis Seven-eighths in 1:27. The Squire Throe-quarters in 1:13. Tlieo Cook Three-quarters in 1:15. Warbler Three-quarters in 1:17. The usual number of la.vers will he in line tomorrow, thirtj-five stands having been set apart for their use. Most of f?. C. Hildreths horses are. ready to race. The work of this stable of stars is being closely watched. Yesterday Novelty was cantered three-quarters in 1:17s. Fitz Herliert and Priscillian worked three-quarters in 1:14. Hampton Court, Res-tigouche and Rose Queen also worked satisfactorily. Van Den, in the string of Albert Simons, has worked the fastest three-quarters recorded here so far.
