NO OPPOSITION TO GILLIN BILL. Albany. N. Y.. May 17.— Despite recent published reports that Governor Dix would appoint a new state racing commission, and that it would be composed of nieniUis in favor of the repeal of the race track directors liability law. passed by the Legislature last year, the roTflaor today stated emphatically that he contemplates making no changes in the present commission. The present commission is heartily in favor of legislation that will have the effect of reestablishing racing throughout the state, and in its annual report recently presented to the Legislature, forcibly stated its position on the sub.iect. It is p.. in led out that it would be difficult to select three men in New York Stale more representative, influential and earnest in their endeavors to promote racing than John Sanford. J. W. Wadsworth and II. K. Knapp. Great interest is beiag manifested here in favor of Senator Gillins bill, which will modify the present law. It will have the hearty support of every county fair society and agricultural society in the state.* Arrangements have been made for the various associations to send representatives to appear before the legislative committee in favor of the proposed legislation. No opposition has developed against the bill.
