Ontario, furnished the winner of the Kinss Phtte at Woodbine this afternoon in his Basaetlaw colt. St. Dass. which made a runaway affair of tin-race, winning easily by half a dozen lengths in record time for the race. St. liass was ridden by Eddie Dugan. made all of his own pace and ran the mile and a quarter in 2:0K». a splendid performance for an Ontario-bred throo-ycar-nhl. Dowdermaii. one of the Valley Farm entries, was the runner -up and with a little racing luck the result might have been different. Jockey T. Keener came on from Louisville to ride the colt. He received the worst of the break ami in the first five-eighths met with repeated interference. In the run through the backstretch he moved Up with a soul burst of speed and rounding the far turn was on almost even terms with the h ader. In the final furious the exertion required to close the bis sap began to tell ami Dowdermaii tired. The winner is an extra good looking racer. ID- resembles Den Brash in conformation, has a tine turn of speed and appears able to carry it any distance. American owners swept the remainder of the pro-mam. Today marked the inausuration of the mutuel system of speculation in Canada, and it proved a big success.
