Calisse. scored another stake victory aud incidentally established her right to rank with the top -notcliers when she won the Clipsetta Stains today from Star Jasmine and Azyiade. after leading from barrier rise. The running left a doubt in the minds of many as to whether she was best, for she was away with an advantage of a length or more :.nd her aaaigla at the i nd w.-.s only a head. That she was favored by g.iod racing luck there was no doubt, bill at that her performance of cariying top weight to rletory entitles her to credit. Star .l.is mine was gaining near the end and would have W00 in a few more strides. Ay.yiar.e was aiso gaining and but for early Interference would have been a much mere serious factor. The real disappointment in the race was Lady Lightning. She had beet working phenomenally fast and was an outstanding favorite. She got away badly and E. Martin handled her weakly. James McManus. whose horses continue in good form, scored a double with Presumption and Rocky OBrien, whim is respectively ,n llK first and second races. The owner, according to report, made a handsome winning on the pair. Iresuuipt ions showing was a good one, for he won coinmandingly over a ■Oppoaedly good band of youngsters in the fast time of 59jL J. H. Meades John Louis showed a return to his best form in scoring an impressive victory in the third race over Summer Night and Petrouius. The last named was probably best, hut jockey J. Class kept him in a pocket. Adams Express was though much the best of the sprinters that made up the field in the fifth race, and he might have won but for a poor sendoff and being forced to go wide for most of the trip. Grover Hughes, off well in his stride, sprinted into a good lead and, under a hustling ride, maintained his lead all the way. htcTaggartS faulty ride was responsible for Star Blues defeat in the eh .sing race by Descomnets. Star Blue appeared to !«■ winning easily in the stretch when ICcTaggart became careless and allowed him to bear out badly, with the result that Des-conmets. coming with a rush along the inner rail, managed to pass Star Blue in the last sixteenth.
