MERIDIAN showed a fine turn of speed under his weight and set a fast pace bnt tired under pttnishmeut in the last furlong. GOVERNOR GRAY was under restraint until in the last half mile, then worked his way up on the outside and finished fast and gamely. NAUSHON ran tinder mild restraint for a mile but did not respond and ran a very disappointing race. PAGOD was outclassed but ran a good race for him.
