HAMILTON HAS ITS BIGGEST CROWD. Coronation Day Attendance Breaks All Records — S. C. Hildreth Finds It Expensive to Win Stake. Hamilton. Out.. June 22. — Coronation Day brought out the bwgest crowd that ever witnessed racing here. The attendance exceeded that of the opening day on Saturday last, wheu a record for numbers was established. The club offered a Splendid program for the occasion, with the Tuckett Selling Stakes and the Ontario Handicap as the features. S. C. Hildreth furnished the winner in both of these races in Hamilton Court and Shannon. The formers victory, however, turned out to be expensive, as it cost his owner ..10.", to retain his horse. Hamilton Court was entered to tie sold for ,000 and Sam Louis boosted hitn to ,105 before he stopped bidding. There is a selling race feud on lietwen Messrs. Hildreth and Louis. The latler claims that a blister was applied to one of Rose queens forelegs after lie claimed her at Montreal ami he never misses an opportunity when Mr. Hildreth has a horse entered at a low valuation in a selling race. Ilauni ton Court and Shannon both made runaway affairs of their races and won with something to spare. The tabled history of the Tuckett Sidling Stakes is as follows: Year. Winner. A.Wt. Jockev. Val. Time. MMW Euripides 3 93 T. Chandler.? 075 1.43S I.kiT Jacomo 3 31 J. Carroll.. 070 1:48 HKM Petulant 3 30 Kcnnedv ... 07o 1:47* F.M 13 Creel 0 101 J. Reid K30 1:4C r 1310 Ragman 4 102 Pease BM 1:461 1311 Hamp. Court.. 4 103 C. II. ShiFg 1,005 1:1".- It. I*. Carman also furnished two winners during the afternoon in Rogon and Sir Alvescot. Ihc former won bis race in easy fashion, but Sir Aires cot. which ruled an odds-on favorite, only beat Cardiff a head and his victory was due to Archibalds superiority to Schuttinger when it came to the finish. Two other winners were furnished by New York horsemen. R. T. Wilsons Souex taking the maiden two-year-old race, while Abe Garsons Miss Jonah sralloeed hone with an eight-lengths lead in the third race. Archibald and Shilling each piloted two winners. It develops that the action taken yesterday against Joeheys Shilling and Dugan by the committee of the Canadian Racing Associations was that their licenses were curtailed so far as outside owners are concerned, so that in future they will be permitted to ride only for Messrs. Belmont and Hildreth. Former jockey Willie Martin, who is campaigning a stable here for Frank Nolan of Albany, was fined 00 for attempted intimidation in connection with a selling race in which the sprinter Rye Straw was run tip. Martin himself took this horse out of a selling race, but Objected to the horse being boosted on him. Steeplechase Jockey P. Kelleher. who rode for Bart let t McLennan last rear and who was ruled oil by Judge Price at Windsor last summer, has been restored to giHxl standing, but will be permitted to ride only the horses trained by William Hogan. R. T. Wilson has donated the stallion Zagobla the Canadian Breeding Bureau. The fencer Bergoo wrenched his shoulder while being schooled this morning aud will be thrown out of training. Third Rail was jumped on in his race of yesterday, which accounts for his poor showing.
