Star ORyan would have won by a • oaple of lengths. llonau, showing an improved disposition at the post as a result of assistant stall er Morrisscys painstaking lessons during the last few weeks, made a show of good opposition in the fifth race and won commandingly over Veneta Strome and Al Muller. The mile and five furlongs race, the first at this distance ever inn here, went to First Peep, which, under good handling, held the others safe. Hick Baker, the favorite, took second money and Claudia was third. Althorpe was best of the twelve maidens that furnished the contest in the opener, though with better raring luck Leopold, the runner-up, misfhi have given him more ..] an argument. Joe Peibold took the second race from a mediocre band of youngsters. He was aided by good racing luck, while some of the others were sufferers from a jam that came at the half-mile ground. Baltronia showed a good performance in the third to win over Toison dOr and Jeanne dArc. Descomnots and J. H. Keed. Mailers in this race, ran below expectations. Judge Charles F.
