Adams Erpr*— and Stone Street were other great dis-appaantnaents during the afternoon. The changeable track was in some measure responsible for the mi morons disappointing results. At the outset the course was slicky and heavy, but gradually it underwent a rapid drying-out process, a strip ehowt eight reel from i lie inner rail being tirm and affording solid footing while the remainder was soft. Horses with an advantage at the siart and capably guided, bad much the best of it. especially if possessing early speed. Th" two last races were decided over a good track, and if no more rain falls the going will be fast for tomorrows racing. The sprinting race, which engaged among others I In- speedy Swannauoa and Adams Express, furnished an excellent medium for speculation. Most of the liclting centered on the pair named. Adams Express enjoying most favor. Swannauoa made a show of her opposition and was the easiest winner of the afternoon. The lime. 1:134, niarke l an excellent performance in the goin that prevailed. Fireman repeated a former impressive victory when he won the handicap at a mill- and a sixteenth with I.eamence second. Tin- stretch contest between these two was a keen one. but the Odom representa tive was in command at all times. Stone Street failed to he a formidable factor in the closing dash, for Which lie ruled favorite. Joe Morris landed the purse handily, with Longhand second and Sweet Owen Ihlra, Ren Doubles defeat in the opener was ac- ._ loinpljshed in handy fashion by Kob Co. and Peter "*w Ioiider. The winner attracted hut passing notice "~ in a betting way and paid over ." 0 to 1 to bis backers. After his g 1 showing in the Cincinnati Trophy race it was generally considered that Anion would have an exceedingly easy time disposing of his OSSW-sltion in tin- second race, but to the general surprise he was led by Mack P.. F.ubanks from the start ami then succumbed to The Reach for second money. Anion failed to display much dash aud raced as if he disliked the going. Ren Prior furnished a surprise by running in his liest form and lasting to heat Chemulpo in the third i ace. One lucky individual had pluck enough to invest in a combination on Rob Co. and Mack P.. F.ubanks. winners respectively in the first and second races, and was rewarded by a winning of 80.10, which is the best paying combination of the season. Trance and Danger Mark wen- tired this morning and shipped to Lexington to be turned out until fall. Frank Taylor will ship II. C. Hallenbecks racers at the close of this Meeting to Saratoga, where thev will be rented in the event that there is no racing there until the fall season of Kentucky racing lK-gins. Jockey M. MoOee lias sued out an attachment ■gainst George M. Odesas horses, claiming that the latter owes him S1.40O. Mr. Odom denies the claim. W. H. Finer, w. I". Behnlte and George j. Long will ship their horses next week to Louisville, where they will 1m- rested during the summer. There are several ailing ones in the strings of each of these owners. The news that there would be no meeting at Hawthorne was received by horsemen here with much regret. They had taken considerable stock in the chinccs for a Chicago revival and some who failed to hespeah stabling accommodations at Windsor became they had planned to go to Chicago are now possibly shut out from getting accommodations at the Canadian track. L. Rlum has ri turned from an unsuccessful quest it. Canada for cheap-priced horses to ship to Mexico. P. J. Miles is bore from Canada. He probably will take up the horses lie has had turned out in Kentucky and prepare them for fall racing. T. C. .McDowells disinclination to start The Manager has led to the abandonment of the proposed special mee for the top-notch two-year-olds in train iug here.
