John Beardoa showed sudden improvement iu winning the fifth race as his rider pleased. Ramazan taking second place and High Range third. The 1 latter fouled Musky Lad in the final sixteenth, but the judges dismissed jockey Callahans complaint. The closing dash went to Any Port after a hard drive lo beat Joe Morris. Any Ports showing also represented vast Improvement over recent essays. J. T. Williams in all probability beat himself out of first money in todays stake race by the substitution of jockey A. Burton for T. Rice on Governor Gray. The latter complained to the judges of Cap lain Williams action and also put in a claim for money alleged to be due him for riding Gournoi Gray in the Hamilton Derby. Irving H. Wheatcroft today lodged his complaint with the judges against Cant. J. T. Williams for the hitters alleged failure to settle the mortgage held by Mr. Wheatcroft against some of the Williams horses. It transpires that, one of the horses that Mr. Wheatcroft turned over to Williams was Sweet ■Owen. Tin- latter has changed hands several limrs. i ut Capt. Jim Uoagtaa— Trlxie C, ly Pirate of Penzance, and trainer W. S. Hopkins, who trained Charles F. Grainger, will probably handle the colt for Mr. Oldham.
