ENDYMION II. REDUCES BUTTE RECORD. Butte, Mont., July 20. Before one of the largest crowds of the season Endymiou II., formerly a cross-country runner in England, carried the colors of E. G. Moyno to victory in the feature race of an interesting card. It was a handicap at one mile and seventy yards and Endymion H. reduced the track record by four-fifths of a second to 1:43. Meadow was installed favorite and ran a good game race under a heavy impost, only giving up the struggle in the final sixteenth, after making up considerable ground and looking a sure winner in the stretch racing. Speculation was heavy in the betting ring, thirteen layers having all they could do to handle the wagers of the eager speculators, who had but poor success on their transactions, only one favorite scoring. Smart backing for Adena, Fred Mulholland Mid Margaret Randolph prevented the ring from having its banner day of the meeting. H. !. Redwell scored a double witli Gilbert Rose and Margaret Randolph. II. I. Wilson, president of the Butte Jockey Club, paid his first visit to the course today, his absence heretofore being due to an alilictiou of the eyes from which he is now recovering.
