NOTES OF THE TURF. It is said that in the event of the passage of the Gittins bill by the legislature at Albany In September, fall meetings will be given at the Empire City and Belmont Park tracks. Senator Timothy D. Sullivan and "Roxslc" Anga-rola were recent visitors to" John Hyues stable at Gravcsend. Mr. Ilynes has the old campaigner Bye in his barn, and the senator always likes to sco the old horse when he has the time to run down to the Gravcsend track. II. D. Brown is now at Laurel. Md.. superintending the construction of his new track. The stake dates at Laurel will be arranged so that they will not conflict with Pimlicos stake dates. W. M. Murray will do the starting at Laurel on the days when A. B. Dade will be engaged at Pimlico. During the Laurel meeting there will be a county fair with exhibits. The stallions Rock Sand. Fair Play, Hastings and - Singleton, tosether with seventy broodmares, thirty-five yearlings and the usual crop of weanlings make up August Belmonts Nursery Stud list of thoroughbreds at the present time. Five yearlings were shipped two weeks ago to the Bclmout private quarters at the course of the Westchester Racing Association. They are a choice lot from every standpoint and they will be broken at once and prepared for the autumn trials.
