MAI RIVER, off forwardlv, ran in close pursuit of the pacemakers Jo the stretch turn, then finished fast and gamely and outstayed CONGRESSMAN JAMES. The latter set the pace and raced LADY McGEE into early defeat,- but tired in the final drive. LADY McGEE ran well and had no mishaps. DINNA KEN was under restraint until in the last quarter and never made an attempt to run out, but was outpaced. THISTLE-DALE stumbled repeatedly after taking the fifth fence. BOUNDER wore RAGMAN down in the last furlong and finished gamely. The latter was probably short and, being much used in following COMPTON. tired in the final drive. J. II. REED closed a big gap into a fast going fourth. FORT JOHNSON ran moderately well only. COMPTON set the pace to the stretcli and tired badly.
