: LOUISVILLE STAKES ARE ANNOUNCED. Six Events, Estimated Worth ,000 and Over to the Winners, Will Close September 2. Louisville, Ky., August IS. The New Louisville Jockev Club announced today the following stakes for the coming fall meeting beginning September 25 and ending October 14, a period of eighteen days. The events are all to close September 2, except the Kcutuckv Endurance Stakes, which closed for entries June 1. The stakes to close September 2 call for an entrance fee of 0 to accompany nomination and 0 additional to start. They are: St. Leger IIandic.ii, for two-year-olds and upward, ,000 added, one mile and a sixteenth. Shawnee Handicap, for two-year-olds and upward, ,000 added, one mile and a sixteenth. Falls City Handicap, for three-year-olds and upward, ,000 added, one mile and an eighth. Cherokee Selling Stakes, for three-year-olds and upward, 1.000 added, one mile and twenty yards. Iroquois Handicap, for two-year-olds, ,000 added, six furlongs. Golden Rod Selling Stakes, for two-year-olds, ,000 added, six furlongs. Kentucky Endurance Stakes, for three-year-olds and upward, ?:..O0O added and a gold cup valued at ,000. four miles. In the lirst six stakes the second horse will receive 50 and the third horse 50. It is likely that hone of the events will fall short of ,000 to the winner. The money in the Kentucky Endurance Stakes will be divided, seventy, twentv and ten per cent. It should be worth about 0,000. No purse with less than 00 added will be given during the meeting. Louisville, Ky., August IS. The racing string of J. T. Weaver is booked to reach Churchill Downs from Latonia in charge of trainer W. J. Spiers. In this string is the speedy two-year-old filly. Lady Lightning, winner of the Cincinnati Trophy; Markie M.. winner of the Waterhouse Cup and a prominent Endurance Stakes candidate: Foxy Mary, Labold and C. II. Patton. The stable is the strongest Mr. Spiers has campaigned since the days when he had the Hying OConnell and the sturdy Lizetta in ids barn. Markie M. will be sent right along upon his arrival here to get him ready for the Autumn Cup, two and one-quarter miles, at Lexington, and the Endurance Stakes, four miles, here. From all accounts he is now training soundly. Lady Lightning is in the pink of condition-antl Mr. Spiers: sags lie will dodge no two-year-old iu training when the time comes to race her next month. 0. H. Patton is doing nicely and his legs are in condition to stand training, as the firing he received early in July appears to have been effective. Both Foxy Mary and Labold are training well. Jockey Eddie Martin is coming to the Downs with the Weaver horses.
