ANACONDA OPENING IS AUSPICIOUS. Representative Crowd of Fully Three Thousand Witnesses Decision of Inaugural Card. Anaconda, Mont., August 2."!. A representative crowd of fully .".000. the largest attendance ever seen at the races here, was present at todays opening of the Anaconda Jockey Clubs meeting. It was. eloquent of the popularity which racing has attained In this section. Although the program offered was an ordinary one. the contests were interesting throughout. Two favorites and two well backed second choices were returned winners, enabling the public to break about even. Ten books, a record for this track, drew in. Among the layers were Joe and George Rose. Fred Cook. 1$. McNutt, Gus Blum and K. J. Sonle. They found speculation brisk, although not profitable to an appreciable extent. Billy Myer attracted extensive support in the last race, but was poorly ridden by jockey Buxton and liuished among the also rans. Selling race hostilities developed to a lively degree, W. S. Heath being the most active. He bid up Electric 00 and Helena 00. The run-up of Delona provoked W. B. Carson into bidding np Tommy Mc-Gce, which carried the Bedwell colors, to victory in the closing race. All of the horses bid up. were retained by their respective owners.
