ALAMITOS KILLED IN COLLISION AT WINDSOR. Detroit, Mich.. August 25. M. C. Prichards Spell-hound, a candidate for the I. B. I. and W. Ferry Handicap, to be run on the opening day of the Windsor autumn meeting, met with an accident at the track across the river Wednesday that may prevent him from starting in the stake on Monday. The big gelding was working for the race when he collided with Henderson and Hogans Alamitos, which was being schooled at. the barrier. The force of the collision was so terrific that it knocked Spellbound almost Hat. while the nenderson and Hogan colt had his neck broken and was immediately destroyed. It was thought that Spellbound had received serious injury, but he walked back to the stable and showed no signs of lameness this morning. First Aid, a two-year-old that M. C. Irichard lias under lease from Barney Schreiber, has failed to run up to the promise of fast yearling trials and it lias developed that he is suffering with an ailing knee. This colt worked an eighth in 11 seconds last year. The horses of G. M. Odom and Lon Johnson are among the belated shipment to Windsor from Hamilton. Bain fell at Windsor yesterday and was hailed by track superintendent Sam Parmer as just what was-needed to put the course in extra good condition for Mondays opening.
