NOTES OF THE TURF. OConnell. a good sprinter in bis day, is still enjoying a life of ease at Harlem track, a pensioner on the bounty of John Condon. Jockey Small, who has been riding successfully on the Oklahoma circuit, probably will ride for IS. 1. Williams at Laurel and Havana. . Thomas Loonam, for many years superintendent" of the Hawthorne race track, died yesterday at his residence at the track. Death was caused by dropsy. Mr. Loonam was fifty-nine years old. Mose Goldblatt, a well known horseman whose life was despaired of a few months ago, has effected the complete curt; of a case of tuberculosus by taking the outdoor treatment at his home near Cincinnati. H. M. Mason has been appointed to take charge of the track at the new racing plant of the Coeur dAlene Fair and Racing Association at Alan, Idaho. Recent arrivals there include William Hawke and A. Levy. The former brought Sir John and Gretchen G. from Vancouver.
