Odom sent his Endurance Stakes candidate. Fireman, a mile and a half at Churchill Downs in preparation for the Autumn Cup, at two miles and a quarter, at Lexington. Thursday. He did the distance in 2:40, going the first mile aiid a quarter in 2:17 and tliti first mile in 1:48s. He was breezing all the way and appeared to lie fit. The tracks at Churchill Downs and Douglas Park were much improved today, though the going is yet by no means fast. The best works .this morning were: Casque Quarter mile in 20; can run. Colonel Haldeman Half mile in .12, cantering. Emily Lee Three-quarters in 1:20s; slowing down. Gold of Ophir Half mile in r.l; can run. J. H. Reed Half mile in 54. handily. Judge Walton Five-eighths in 1:05; is improving. Nimbus Three-quarters in 1:20; is ready. Pardner Quarter mile in 25J, easily. Pinkola Quarter mile in 2G; looks good. Prince Gal Three-eighths in 40; looks extra good. Roval Captive Three-quarters in 1:202; is ready. Spindle Mile in 1:53, easily. Stinger Quarter mile in 25J, cantering. Tillies Nightmare Half mile in 51. Tom Bigbee Mile in 1:53, handily. Tom Hayward Half mile in 55, cantering. Tourist Three-eighths in 30 R; is good. Ursula Emma Half mile in 515, handily. The Pippin, a speedy mare in George M. Odoms stable, was quite sick yesterday and even this morning her temperature was 104. It will keep her from racing at Lexington and she will not go there tomorrow witli the G. M. Odom stable, but will remain at the Downs with her stable companion, Follie Levy. , . Wayne Joplins high priced colt. Granite, winch was quite sick on his arrival here from Windsor two days ago, has recovered to such an extent that the Elizabethtown trainer thinks he will be able to begin work with him again in a few days. H. C. Hallenbecks big stable, in charge of trainer Frank M. Taylor, arrived at the Downs in good condition from Saratoga and will remain here until after the conclusion of the coming fall meeting, which begins on Saturday. September 25. There are eleven horses in the string, including Worth, Jndge Walzer. Housemaid. Irince Gal, Recompense, Miss .Minnie, Adams Express. Stinger, Herkimer. Sir Marion and Kauntleroy. Mr. Taylor will send nothing to Lexington to race. Nine head, owned by L. P. Doerhoefer and two horses belonging to W. F. Schulte. made up a car which was shipped to Lexington today. In the shipment were King Olympian, Zienap, Mary Davis, Spalding. Tommie Thompson, Freckle, Danger Mark, Ursula Emma, flarden of Ophir and Gold of Ophir. Lon Johnson has arrived at the Downs with his good colt Carlton G. and the two-year-old Pardner. which he bought from S. C. Hildreth in Canada. If Mr. Johnson concludes to go. to Lexington, he will not leave before the first of the week, which will be in time for Carlton G. to meet his engagement in the Phoenix Hotel Fall Handicap. Mr. Johnson has taken up two green two-year-olds, one by Sain and the other bv Bannockburn. The racing string of Lon Jones, headed hy the fast filly Azviade, was shipped to Lexington today. Among the other horses lie took were Sir Denrah, Haldeman and an unnamed half-sister to Martine H. The latter is a two-year-old and is promising. The Louisville passenger agents have decided on a fare during the coming Churchill Downs race meeting of one full fare plus twenty-five cents for the following dates: September 25. 20 and 30, and October 4. 5, 7 and 12. The tickets issued on the 25th are good for return tlirough the meeting, while those sold on other dates have a two-days time limit. The rate is for passengers from points in tuckv to Louisville only. Five of T. II. Rvans horses have arrived at Churchill Downs and "V. AV. Harden has also arrived witli Little Father. Reciprocity and others, W. G. Yanke will take only six horses to Lexing-. ton. The half dozen is made up of Swish, Lack-rose, Quartermaster, The Hague, Yanker and Incision. He made no stake engagement for Round the World at Lexington, so the great filly will do no racing over the Kentucky Association track this fall. She never trained hotter than at present and is a sure starter in the St. Leger Handicap at Churchill Downs. Royal Captive and Sigurd are the only two horses in J. R. Wainwrights stable which will lie shipped to Lexington to race, and King Olympian and Zie-. nap will he the only performers W. F. Schulte will race there. P. Dunne will send none of his horses to the Kentucky Association autumn meeting. He will have nothing ready to race until the opening here, though all his horses are doing well. Jockey George Molesworth lias arrived at Churchill Downs and had his first mount in Kentucky this autumn at the State Fair races today. Molesworth has entirely recovered from the injuries he received in a fall in a race at Lexington last spring and he comes to Kentucky this fall in first-class condition. He has done no recent riding in the west and, in fact, has not been up in a contest on a regular track since last spring. The only riding he has recently done was at several Texas fairs, in which he rode in races only because some of his friends wished him to pilot their horses. It is understood that Molesworth will this fall ride Governor Gray In all his engagements, which include the ,000 Kentucky Endurance Stakes, at four miles, to be run here on Saturday, October 7. The Texas rider was on the famous gelding when lie beat the Kentucky Derby winner. Meridian, at Lexington last spring , and set a new track record there for one mile and 1 an eighth. Trainer Miller Henderson took four of the nender-" son and Hogan string to Lexington today. They in-, eluded El Toro, Bredwell. J. H. Reed and Cockspur and witli them went J. II. Meads John Louis and " Chapultepec. Frank G. Hogan. a member of this firm, probably " will not come to Kentucky until the autumn racing season opens here. Ho is now in Pasadena, Cal.. s where lie went on business after seeing some of liis horses race at Butte and Anaconda. Mont. The " western division of the Henderson and Hogan string lias enjoyed a prosperous season. Ham Keene, a brother of J. O. Keene, trainer of J. N. Camdens Z big stable, has charge of the Henderson and Hogan horses now racing in the far west. P The racing string of R. J.
