BESOM, off forwardly, ran in close pursuit of the pacemaker to the stretch turn, then closed up resolutely in the homestretch and shook off the tiring STILLY NIGHT in the last sixteenth. The latter showed the most speed and set a fast pace for five furlongs, but tired when it came to the final drive. LAHORE began slowly and closed a big gap into a fast going third. MERMAN was prominent early and. after losing ground, came again and wore the tiring DULLCARI! down and outgamed him for second place. The latter moved up with a rush while rounding the far turn and ld into the stretch, but tired in the last furlong. SECONKE closed a big gap and tired In the stretch drive. JOHN REARDON finished fast. TROY AVEIGHT and MICHAEL ANGELO alternated iu setting the pace to the stretch, then quit badly. FROGLEGS came from behind with a rush while rounding the turn into the homestretch, but bored over and bumped ACTON in the last furlong, forcing the latter to pull up and was disqualified. BUCKHORN wa5 best, but was cut off a couple of times while entering the homestretch by RUSTLING, then closed up with a rush at the end and would have been in front in a few strides. ACTON took the lend on the turn and kept it to the last sixteenth, then tired. RUSTLING set the early pace fast, but tired in the last furlong and Is promising. FLYING YANKEE finished fast. STAR CHARTER began slowly and worked his way up on the outside, but tired finally and justM lasted long enough to outstay OAVANUX for second place. The latter also closed a big gap and finished with a rush. OCEAN BOUND was shnflled back in the early running and finished fast and close lip. EVERETT ran well, but was never dangerous.
