KOOTENAY took the lead quickly and, holding it all the way, stood a drive gamely and outstaved GILBERT ROSE at the end. GILBERT ROSE was the closest contender all the way and gaining fast at the end. MISS SLY closed a big gap and was running very fast at the finish under a weak ride. Tlie saddle on CANAPA slipped in the final furlong. LAURA CLAY showed speed, but quit. THE MONK made a game effort, but. went extremely wide when making the last turn. DON ENRIQUE ran well. REGINA ARVI and MATADOR showed much speed for the first three-quarters, but failed to stay.
