SUSPENSION FOE MINTYKE JAMESTOWN JOCKEY CLUB OFFICIALS ISSUE RULING AGAINST JOCKEY. Unsatisfactory Handling of Dreamer in Race "Won by Heavily Backed Fond Heart Calls Forth 3 Action Busy Reduces Track Record. Norfolk, Va.. November 17. There wore more surprises this afternoon at the Jamestown Jockey Clubs tract, Fond Heart being the only winning favorite. Fond Heart went to the post at odds-on, one of the best backed choices of tho meeting. She led all the way. and beat Dreamer, the second horse, by three-quarters of a length. The latter was ridden by J. Mclntyre and the most charitable view that one could take of his handling of II. B. Duryeas old sprinter would be to say that it was an incompetent ride. The stewards may have taken this view of the matter. At all events, they suspended Mclntyre from further participation in the racing here. Dreamer appeared anxious to run, but he was kept behind Fond Heart, rounding the far turn and through tho homestretch. Whether lie is a rail runner or whether Mclntyre kept pulling him in behind the mare is hard to say. Opinion on that point was divided. Mclntyre is the same lad who got into trouble at La ton la a few seasons back and was restored to good standing only after a long vacation. The case will probably bo given a further consideration by the stewards. The action of the officials was commended for the reason that there has been some in and out running here and several suspicious looking rides. The management is making every effort to build up tho sport on clean and wholesome lines in Norfolk and those behind tho racing have run several meetings at great liiiancinl loss. Now that things are looking up a bit, they arc determined that the sport shall not be placed in a false light. Todays attendance was swelled by the arrival of many visitors from New York and some from the west. Norfolk "is getting to be the gathering place for those who will take part in winter meetings. George Ham arrived with the William Garst and G. II. Holle horses. Wayne Lewis and Luke Le Blond ,- .alfto mine from Kentucky. -Iuthe: Iatter, scar were 11 couple of two-year-olds owned by James Mac-Manns. The track was in splendid condition, as the time recorded in some of the races would indicate. In the feature, race, a dash, of a mile and seventy yards. Busy, which led his opponents for most of the way, ran the first mile In 1:30?, and won with great case 13- several lengths. While the field in this race was small, it made np In quality what it lacked in quantity. Busy incidentally made a new track record of 1:43 J for the mile and seventy yards. J. L. McGinnis, who lost Cu Bon through the selling nice process yesterday, has evidently made up his mind to secure another horse to replace Cu Bon. After Pertsbire had won tho fifth race today, he advanced him 00 over his entered price of 00, but owner Adrians protected the colt and bought him in. Old Bcaueoup, which had been sulking in recent starts, took the notion to running kindly today and he was never headed in the sixth race. Feather Duster caught him rounding the far turn, but Beau-coup managed to keep his head in front and finished with splendid courage. II. G. Bedwell has arranged with jockey Willie Knapp to do his riding for the remainder of the meeting. Knapps first mount will be on Prince Ahmed in the Monticello Hotel Handicap, the feature race of tomorrows program. Jockey B. Forsyth, who came in with W. E. Scotts stable, had a couple of mounts this afternoon and immediately sprang into favor with horsemen here. The lad has ai good seat and looks like a rider of promise1. C. Turner also arrived and will be seen in the saddle tomorrow. Jockey Hopkins, who came from Marlboro a few days ago, returned to tho Maryland track last night. Joseph McLennan is in receipt of a. letter from H. I. Brown, conveying the information that December r has been set as the closing day for entries to tho stakes to be run at Almendarcs the coming winter.
