AMERICAN TRAINERS RETURN FROM ABROAD. New York, November 2S. James II. McCnnnick. trainer for Baron Oppenheim, in Germany, and Thomas Welsh, who trains a French string for Joseph E. Widener, have returned from abroad. Mickey Miles, an American jockey who lias been riding abroad for several seasons, is another who has arrived to spend the winter at home. All three will return to their labors abroad early in tho spring. Each one looked particularly well and all expressed themselves as being glad to get home, , even if only for a comparatively short visit. Mr. McCoimick said that ho had fifty-six horses in training at Hoppegarton, juSt outside of Berlin. It is called the Sheepshead Bay of Germany by the American colony. Dolomit, a son of Ard Patrick, is the particular star of the stable and he has never been btfaten. Royal Flower and Amathyst are two others of the best winners in the stable of Baron Oppenheim. Adjunct, owned by Richard lleinal. Is that owners best winner. George Archibald and T. Rice will again do the riding for the stable next season. Mr. Welsh reports that J. E. Widener has gone in for French racing on an elaborate scale. He has twenty yearlings at Cliantilly for Mr. Widener. They were all selected from the best racing families In Europe and Welsh hopes to develop some truly good ones out of tho lot. Mr. Widener has leased his place at Cliantilly for six years and it would appear that he has decided to remain in France permanently.
