COONEY ISLAND JOCKEY CLUB PLANS. Futurity to Be Run at Some Other Course if Shecps-head Bay Track 13 Sold. New York, December 15. Concerning the report that the Sheepsliead Day race track is likely to change hands shortly, Secretary V. E. Schaumberg of the Coney Island Jockey Club admitted today that there were negotiations under way looldng to the sale of the track, but he said positively that up to this tune no sale had been made. "The sale of the property," he said, "would not mean the dissolution of the Coney Island Jockey Club. The club has been under tremendous expense carrying its plant with no adequate return, and it is for that reason that an effort was made to have the assessment on the buildings, which have been abso-luiely useless all season, cancelled. "A"s far as the obligations with the horsemen are concerned, they will be kept if the conditions will permit. Futurities are provided for 1012, 1013 ami the race of 1114 is to close January 2. It would not be necessary for the Coney Island Jockoy Club to have a track of its own on which to run. off these races If racing is possible and the track has been sold in the meantime the races will be run over some other course." . V K. Vauderbilt is the principal owner of the Sheepsliead Dav race course. He is at present in Paris where he headed the list of winning owners on tile French turf for the season just completed. Thou-h he has taken an active interest in the conduct "of the Coney Island Jockey Club he has for years conliued his racing efforts to France.
