NOTES OF THE TURF. Frank J. Goulds Cavero won the Prix Veinard at the St. Ouen races in France, yesterday. The five-year-old American-bred Selectman ,by Voter Piuk Domino, is winning hurdle races in England. As a remedy for the unsatisfactory starting that has been the cause of much complaint on the English turf this season it is urged by trainers who have been Interviewed that the starter should have more authority over the riders, and that he lie allowed to use the walk-up method If he desires. All agree that the gate is an immense Improvement on the flag system. The authority of the starter la limited iu England.
