- ; WINNINGS OP AMERICAS LEADING STABLE FOR S91J . : In his racing campaign of the present year Samuel C. Hildreth started in all twenty-six horses and as the net result of sixtv-four races won, thirty-nine seconds and twenty-eight thirds amassed the rather comfortable aggregate of 7,473. The good Adam colt, Zens, except Novelty, pcrhops the best three-year-old this year, was the chief contributor and, everything considered, proved himself a worthy mate to his distinguished stable comrades. Novelty was not raced ruueh and only in sprinting, at which he demonstrated that he still possessed the brilliant speed of Ills two-year-old career. Why iie was not raced more and in others than short races is not known. On his two-year-old racing no one could question his gameness or probable abilitv to stay a long route, but it may be that his owner suspected latent unsoundness and reared to put Novelty to the test of a race that might cause its development. The work horses of the sHb.e Hampton Court, Shannon and Besligouche. did excellent service and so did tho two-year-olds, Pug-v!ns and Little lal. Puggins is a capital two-year-old and probably best of those raced in the east and on the Canadian circuit. The first magnitude stars of the stable, Fitz Herbert and King James, were not 2ked to do much and King James was sold last fall for future stud service in Virginia. Fits Herbert won e-eral good races in the spring, then became a horse of mystery, rumors having him about broken down, while on the other hand it has been claimed on behalf of the stable that he is as sound as ever he was.
