OFFICIALS FOR CHARLESTON F. J. PONS ANNOUNCES ROSTER FOR INAUGURAL MEETING SOON TO OPEN. W. P. Burch to Bo Presiding Steward, W. F. Sehulte, Presiding Judge, James Milton Starter and Martin Nathanson Associate Judge. T j Charleston, S. C, December 20. General Manager Francis J. Pons made known today the full complement of officers of the Charleston Fair ami Racing Association, and the racing officials who will serve during the inaugural meeting tills winter. The otlicers of the association include John Marshall, president and secretary; W. F. Sehulte, vice-president; J. L. David, treasurer, and L. A. Cassldy, assistant secretary. The roster of the racing officials will be made up as follows: Stewards W. P. Burch, P. A. Brady. Charles Godshaw. Presiding judge W. F. Sehulte. Associate judge Martin Nathanson. Racing Secretary and General .Manager F. J. Pons. Assistant racing secretary Fred Gerhardv. Starter James Milton. Paddock judge W. W. Lyles. Timer W. V. Casey. Clerk of the scales and entry clerk J. B. Campbell. Horsemen no doubt will greet this selection with a great deal of satisfaction, as the men chosen to fill the ollicial positions are all prominent in the racing world. Judge Sehulte Is one of the best known men on the trf, having bought, raced and bred a number of famous winners. He was presiding judge and president of the Louisville Jockey Club for ten years. Martin Nathanson, who conies from Chicago, lias been an official at many courses. He was presiding judge at Salt Lake, Butte and Anaconda and is acting as presiding steward during the present Columbia meeting. F. W. Gerhardy is racing secretary on several Canadian tracks. Jack Campbell, who is personnllv popular with the horsemen, has tilled the position of clerk of the course at New Orleans, Kansas City. Latonia and Fort Erie. James Milton, who will do the starting, has officiated in a like capacity at Lexington, Louisville, Latonia, Dallas, Houston and Havana. W. V. Casey, who has been raciug a string of horses with success, is a native of Valdesta, Ga. Judge Lyles is well known to racing men and tho stewards are prominent men of the racing world. W. P. Burch is one of the oldest trainers in the country. P. A. Brady, who hails from the home of the thoroughbred, Kentucky, has been an ollicial on numerous tracks. Charles Godshaw is a prominent southern racing man who lives at Tryon, N. C.
