It has also been decided to abolish all penalties in connection with the re . The alterations cannot but tend to increase the interest attaching to the greatest cross-counry event of the year. The decision to abolish penalties will conduce to more of the horses engaged i.i the rate being seen out for previous engagements. instead of them betag kept at home in reserve for th big Alntree event, and must give added interest to the meetings where they will compete. In recent rears horses handicapped in the Graud National at 154 pounds or over have been exempt from penalties, hot those below that weight were penalized four pounds for winning a handicap steeplechase of three miles and a half or over, or two handicap steeple chases of three miles or over.
