LATONIA JOCKEY CLUB STAKES ANNOUNCED. Ciu. innati. o.. February 10.— Six stakes have been j opened for the spring meeting of the Latouia Jockey Club. Futries to the same will close March 2. ihe stakes are all of the added money variety with , the Latonia Derby. ,500, added as the head liner. , The Cincinnati Trophy, for two-v. ar-olds. ,000 added, is one of the big features. In addition to the money value, the winner will receive the 00 Cincinnati Trophy. The Latonia Jockey Club is making an effort to have its meeting begin early thla season, and the Memorial Handicap, which in previews Years was a i Decoration Day feature, is again on the list, and will be a valuable event. The number of stakes is less than last year. The reason for this is that there is doubt as to the time of beginning and length of the meeting. If the Latonia Jockey Club could have had the assurance of the Kentucky Racing Commis sion that its meeting would begin the last dav in May it would have opened more stakes, it is announced. The deiicieucy in stakes will be supplied by overnight handicaps carrying a value of 00 or ! more, which will make interesting racing The stakes are as follows: Latonia Derby— lor three-y ear-olda; 82,888 added. of watch 9000 to second. 00 to third, and fourth to save its stake. One mile and a half. Memorial Handicap— For three veai -olds and upward: .*1.500 added, of which 8888 to second. 00 i ■ j i J , to third, and fourth to save its stake. One mile and a sixteenth. Cincinnati Trophy — For two year-olds: ,500 added, of which 00 to second. * to third, and fourth to save its stake. In addition to the first money the winner will receive The Cincinnati Trophy, a beautiful silver loving cup. Five and one half furlongs. Merchants" Stakes —A selling sweepstakes for three year-olds and upward: .ikk added, of which 00 to second and 00 to thu-d. One mile. Clipsetta Stake* — For fillies two years old: ,000 added, of which 00 to second and 00 to third. Five furlongs. Harold Stakes — For colts and geldings two years old: ,000 added, of which 0 to second and 00 to third. Five furlongs.
