THE JOCKEY CLUBPIMLICO SITUATION vmperning the threatened friction lietween the Jockev Cj and the Maryland Jockey Club the following has appeared in various New York news newsIia Iia Iiallostnitlps llostnitlps Iietween the Pimlico race track pro st r In Maryland and the Jockey Club stewards iV iminii f The Pimlico track operated by the Alirvlind Jockey Club which in turn is governed iir iiiA new racing commission of Baltimore County iic not asked for a license from the New York iiirr overnors and as a result relations are strained fict that II D Browns Laurel track asked vJ oiid received a license from the Jockey Club i disclosed the attitude of Pimlico with the re iV tliut horsemen are wondering what will happen happenTill Till much Is certain If Pimlico does not nnlv for a license or the approval of the Jockey inii under which It has raced successfully for nit Years owners trainers Jockeys and horses Joiin nart in the coming spring meeting will V daced i i the ineligible list The Jockey rM idi lit hough the New York tracks are closed ill leslrcs to exercise control of racing In the It theIt i nil in view of the willingness ot the Charles jiincitown and Laurel promoters to ask for forVtion Vtion the turf governors firmly liellevo that Pi dVcoho Id f ow suit The Pimlico pple 1 i e otler hand do not relish the Jockey Clubs liMnHrtn inil I view of the fact that new racing i ws liav just lKen passed by the Maryland I gls 1iliire they are anxious to manage their own ownafr afr afrTho Tho surprising part of the tangle is II D Browns readiness to bow to the Jockey Club With Jamestown operating under the Jockey jUlubs sanc ¬ tion it is believed that a largo majority1 of the horsemen racing there will go to Laurel instead of to Pimlico unless the Baltimore County track de ¬ cides to capitulate at the last moment by asking for sanctioned dates datesMeanwhile Meanwhile it is said that the Pimlico officials are trying to sow seeds of discontent among the horsemen so that in time it will be possible to wreck tho Jockey Clubs power If the New York tracks were able to race the Jockey Clnb could swing Pimlico into line without serious trouble but as the horsemen must depend upon race meetings outside of the State of J ew York some of them may bo induced to break away Negotiations awayNegotiations between Pimlico and the Canadian IJacing Associations which governs the big tracks in the Dominion are under way the Idea being to form a new international turf governing body which would compel all the tracks In the east to re ¬ nounce allegiaueo to the Jockey Clnb It is known that Pimlico has favored this idea for several years or ever since the New York tracks became crippled by legislation Thomas Clyde one of the big men in the Maryland Jockey Club believes in the Canadian alliance and is opposed to Jockey Club control There are other persons Interested in Pimlico though who feel that the Jockey Club in its present predicament should be upheld It doesnt cost anything to secure the approval of the Jockey Club said a racing official yesterday and the Pimlico people always have received the annual sanction The only stipulation named by the Jockey Club Is the recognition of the forfeit list which is a Itcnclit to horsemen as well as track owners The attacks upon racing have never included the Jockey Clubs honesty of purpose or its fair square government of the turf If imilico doesnt ask for a sanction there will be a turf war The Laurel track is for the Jockey Club first last and all the time which is at least one anchor to windward
