MORE RAIN AT LOUISVILLE High Private Works a Sensational Mile Through the Mud at Churchill Downs Louisville Ky April 20 High Private J R Waiurights Clark Handicap candidate worked a sensational mile at Churchill Downs this morning through the mud and slush and with the rain beat ¬ ing down He ran in the middle of the track all tlie way a mile in 147 pulled up after going the first six furlongs in 117 It was one of the most remarkable trials in the mud ever seen on this course Other horses including the Kentucky Derby candidates were only galloped slowly as the going both at the Downs and Douglas Park was about as bad as the hard rains that have been pre ¬ vailing for nnarly twentyfour hours could make it itJames James S Evernian will not ship the crack two yearold Forward to Lexington until next Tuesday He will then have one day of rest there before the running of the Breeders Futurity in which it looks as if he might go to tlie post favorite Im ¬ mediately after this race he will be shipped back to the Downs and his first start here probably will bo in the It ash ford Manor Stakes In which he will for the first time meet the unbeaten Hawthorn For ¬ ward is also engaged here in the Juvenile Stakes StakesBonnie Bonnie Kelso was on the track today Ho looks good and is going along promisingly for R F Car ¬ man His first important start here will most likely be in the Frank Fehr Stakes one mile He is in tlie Clark Handicap hut Mr Carman has about made up his mind to depend oh the Kentucky Derby winner of 1911 Meridian in this race All of the Carman cracks arc training finely save Scmprolus which met with a slight mishap while cantering at the Palmetto Park track in Charleston There is noth ¬ ing seriously tlie matter with this noted fouryear old but he may not be in racing condition until mid ¬ summer summerLon Lon Johnson thinks well of his twoyearold colt Hopsack a son of Sain and the famous Miss Marion Hopsack Is a brother to the noted performer Tom McGrath and a halfbrother to Sager He is in the Bashford Manor and Juvenile Stakes here but Mr Johnson may not race him in cither of these events as he is still higli in flesh He is a growthy colt and seems to require time to fully develop but lit probably will be a good performed later on in the season if no training accident befalls him Mr Johnson doOs not think Puck another of his horses is much more training well but as Mr Marion has nothing else ready to go there with him he has concluded to pass up the engagement W engagementW F Cisco may take White Wool to Lexington during the last week of the meeting there and give him a race before he runs at the Downs This fouryearold is doing all that could be asked of him in his training and so well does he look this spring that he more and more twoyear olds to Lexington as he desires to give them all a race over the Kentucky Association track in prepara ¬ tion for their engagements this spring at Churchill Downs The crack twoyearolds in T P Hayes stable that are owned by II P Headley one of which is out of Lady Savoy and the other out of the great May Hempstead have been named respectively Earl of Savoy and Macinac They are both by Ornament lu this connection it is remarkable to note tlie many famous marcs that arc represented by colts in the Bashford Manor Stakes this spring Aside from Lady Savoy and May Hempstead others of note are Bunch of Keys out of Princess Titania Burnt Candle out of Tower of Candles Fellowman out of Ferrol Hopsack out of Miss Marion Kamchatka out of Annie Thompson Palanquin out of Oncck Queen
