AS TO PARIMUTUEL FIELD BETTING When parlmutuel betting was established on the Kentucky tracks It was not long until Daily Racing Form was asked whether persons who had elsewhere than at the tracks backed horses that it was subse ¬ quently discovered had been grouped In the uiutuel fields won or not if a field horse won or was placed In reply the opinion was advanced that only the hackers of such horses in the field as might win or run to a place won backers of unplaced field horses losing as in book 1 etting The opinion was given after a consultation with such au ¬ thorities as Judges Charles F Price Joseph A Murphy and others Until now this opinion has been adhered to Because of certain advantages unfairly gained by un exi ected interpretations of this opinion It has been abandoned and hereafter Daily Racing Form will hold that the backers of all horses grouped in the mutucl fields will be entitled to the same payment they would receive at the tracks
