ANOTHER PURSE FOR BEDWELL STABLE Spohn Scores in Handicap at Lagoon Floral Park Wins Junior Stakes Salt Lake City Utah July 13 H G Bedwells colors were seen ill front in todays handicap at Lagoon when Spohn readied the finish lirst after being interfered with on the far turn Taplin was trying to squeeze through along the rail when Cherryola began to quit He was forced to take up his mount but when the leaders swung wide he sent Spohn along on the inside and the horse re ¬ sponding gamely won in a hard drive Cu Bon ran u capital race Jenny Geddes the favorite was outpaced decisively Cherryola got away in her stride but was a contender for only threequarters When she quit quitJames James A Murray a copper mining magnate from Butte todayA was among the spectators today A good field of twoyearolds went to the post in the Junior Stakes at five furlongs carrying a value of 1000 There were five starters including Mother Katcham which J F Newman added at the eleventh hour The added starter gamely fought it out with Floral Park the eventual winner which ruled at oddson The race was not a true ruu one Floral Park and Mother Katcham turned into the stretch on equal terms with the latter on the out ¬ side Floral Park carried her wide until the eighth post was reached then drew clear but ran un steadily from there home Gemmcl the favorite of the first race won after a slight shaking up fifty yards from the finish
