EDDA REDUCES TRACK MARK FILLY FROM J V SCHORRS STABLE RUNS MILE IN l38i5 OVER WINDSOR COURSE Now Record Made in Winning D C Stakes and andFillys Fillys Victory Is Reported to Have Been BeenHighly Highly Profitable to Owner Detroit Mich July 20 John W Schorrs Edda quoted at a good price and with Butwell In Urn saddle galloped home an easy winner in the D it C Stakes at Windsor this afternoon beating a band of good miters and incidentally reducing by two fifths of a second the track record of 13S for the distance made by Plate Glass last year Edda was but little fancied by the rank and file owing to her recent erratic form Her connections how ¬ ever are reported to have won handsomely by her victory commissions having been placed elsewhere Edda ran the mile in 4 and won by a couple of lengths coming from behind In the stretch and scoring easily The early pace was terrilic Helen Harbee drawing away into a lead of eight or ten lengths in the early part of the race The first six furlongs were run in 112 and at this stage Helen Barbee appeared to have her opposition soundly beaten She tired badly in the final fur ¬ long however and at the finish was staggering as a result of her early efforts The disappointment of the race was Altamaha which was i distant trailer from the start startFifty Fifty layers were in line a record number for the Canadian circuit this season The fact that it was the closing day of the meeting was probably re ¬ sponsible for the heavy S eculatlon Only two favorites scored the successful choices being Ly sander and Dorlon DorlonLight Light
