IMPRESSED BY CANADIAN RACING RACINGC C H Pottinsill Expresses His Delight Over Manner in Which the Sport Flourishes in the Dominion DominionWindsor Windsor Out July 20 The veteran racing official C H Pettingill of New York whose experi ¬ ence Includes both starting and judging In the old days of racing hen was among the visitors here this week He was amazed and delighted with what he saw Tills magnificent stand and beauti ¬ ful clubhouse your crowd of people offering more business than fortylive bookmakers can handle and that notice on the board telling of 000 us the lowest purse tell of a marvellous progress Yet I am really not surprised at it Racing is in tho hands of the right people in Canada and your public sees that everything i ossihle is being done to pro ¬ vide highclass and properly conducted sport All the same it delights me to see such appreciation In a lifelong connection with racing I can honestly say to you what I have never hesitated to say to others that the happiest of my years were tliose 1 spent as an official on Canadian race courses The coursesThe notice to which Mr Pettingill referred was an announcement that at the next Windsor meeting there would be nothing less than 000 purses The minimum now is 500 the same as at the other Canadian Racing Associations tracks Windsor therefore is in the position of taking the initiatve in the increase of the purse money The other clubs will undoubtedly do their share and horsemen will benefit by the prosperity that has attended race gatherings in Canada this season
